Debora Mendes

Devy from Brazil runs sessions open to all at any level. The classes include rhythms like axé, samba, forró, funk, Latin, hip hop and Electronica. In each lesson, we aim to let you burn 500 to 700 calories. In addition, those who practise these rhythms are also working the memory because the classes are typically composed of choreographies that need to be remembered to each lesson.

These sessions are great for fun, friendship and fitness.

Argentine Tango

Dance is a way of expression that comes from a deep necessity to communicate with body movement, what words cannot express. In Tango the torsos slowly come together in an intimate way while the legs interact with amazing skill and speed. The magic is in combining the sensuality, relaxation, toning and intimacy of the torso with the contrasting, fast, teasing, staccato, precise, feline movement of the feet and legs. This represents the abandonment and the resistance as when one is passionately in love. The music has a sublime and vibrant expression of different feelings, from thrill, passion and conquest to melancholy and sorrow. Tango is a representation of life itself with its most complex and deep aspects. Tango was born in Buenos Aires at the end of the 19th century and like most Latin dances it originates from the musical and dance influences of various African and European rhythms and cultures coming together in a particular place. It is a live art form that has various styles and interpretations, being Buenos Aires its birth place and still presently its main center of influence. In its essence Tango is a spiritual union of two bodies becoming one

A healthy holistic approach to dance is paramount to me. My mother taught me to value the body, mind and spirit so I bring a combination of all these to my classes. In order to do this it is important that I set the example as an instructor and sharing my lifestyle tips with the class participants is part of the job. My love for music and dance is infectious so not only you hopefully come out of my classes totally worked out but also feeling happy, relaxed and fitter. Don’t just take my word for it. Come – see and feel for yourself!

Ballroom Dance

Ballroom Dance is a set of partner dances, which are enjoyed both socially and competitively around the world. Owing to its performance and entertainment aspects, ballroom dance is also widely enjoyed on stage, film, and television.

Ballroom dance may refer, in its broadest sense, to almost any type of partner dancing as recreation. However, with the emergence of Dancesport in modern times, the term has become narrower in scope, and traditionally refers to the five International Standard and five International Latin style dances. The two styles, while differing in technique, rhythm and costumes, exemplify core elements of ballroom dancing such as control and cohesiveness. Developed in England, the two styles are now regulated by the World Dance Council (WDC). In our classes you will be learning all ten dances from beginners to advanced levels.

The five International Standard dances: Slow Waltz, Tango, Slow Fox, Viennese Waltz and Quickstep.

The five international Latin dances: Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba Bolero, Paso Doble and Jive.
